ABOUT DR.JULIA STORCH
Dr. Julia Storch is a licensed clinical psychologist (Lic: PSY34526). Dr. Storch obtained her Masters of Arts and PhD in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University in San Diego. During her doctoral training, she provided treatment in a variety of settings, including working with children with developmental disabilities such as autism and Down syndrome in school; adults in residential crisis houses; and older adults and disabled adults in an outpatient clinic. She completed a one-year APA-accredited internship at Talbert House, a community mental health agency in Cincinnati, Ohio providing individual therapy, conducting psychodiagnostic testing, and facilitating a group for people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. She completed her postdoctoral training at a private practice providing individual and couples therapy to teenagers, adults, and older adults.
Dr. Storch is knowledgeable and experienced in treating mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, as well as trauma-related issues, emotion regulation difficulties, co-occurring disorders, grief, interpersonal issues, and LGBTQ+ issues. She uses an approach that is customized to the needs of each patient, with techniques and ideas from psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Her goal is not only to help each patient experience relief from whatever troubles them but also to help them better understand themselves and find fulfillment in their lives. She believes that each patient has a key role in their own healing; this respect is reflected in her patient-centered approach.
The name New Pathways was chosen to reflect Dr. Storch's philosophy about therapy. Therapy involves a great amount of self-discovery. Forging new pathways is sometimes uncomfortable and frightening. But, through sitting in and working through the discomfort, one can build new pathways. Dr. Storch aims to be your partner in this process of discovery.
Dr. Storch is a proud geek and in her free time enjoys watching the newest superhero (currently, "Echo") or Star Wars show, reading through the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, and rereading the Hitchhiker's Guide series. All fandoms and identities are welcomed and appreciated here.
